Delivering goods more quickly and for less money requires putting inventory in several fulfillment centers across the nation, closer to the customers. For standard and big bulky sized items, the FBA inbound placement service charge covers the cost of delivering inventory to fulfillment centers near customers. The charge will go into effect on March 1, 2024.

FBA’s inbound placement service:
You have the opportunity to choose from the following inventory inbound placement choices when creating a shipment plan:

Minimal shipment splits: For a price, we will distribute your goods around our network to the fewest number of inbound locations—typically only one—after you send it there. The cost may differ depending on the destination of the cargo; for instance, shipments to the West may incur more costs than shipments to other regions of the nation.

Choose this option for Zero or less fee but Depend on Eligibility criteria:

Partial or Amazon-optimized shipment splits: For a lower or no cost, send your merchandise yourself to several incoming locations. The quantity of shipments and incoming locations you send your merchandise to will determine the discounted rates. For example, if your shipping plan is eligible, you can choose the inbound placement option to deliver your product to as many as four or more Amazon-recommended inbound locations—the ideal number—and not incur any fees. You will pay a lower cost if you choose the placement option, which sends your merchandise to two or three incoming sites, as opposed to the full three.

Eligibility Criteria for Partial or Amazon-optimized shipment splits:

Factors that affect inbound options: Factors that affect inbound options include shipping quantities, multi-SKU boxes, and geographical demand. To maximize the number of inbound options, consider creating larger shipments with more single-SKU boxes in the shipping plan. 

The availability of these inbound placement options is based on several factors, including the product types and quantities that you have in your shipping plan, your existing inventory levels across our network, and the location of customer demand.

When Amazon Charged FBA inbound placement service fee : When you create a shipping plan, you’ll see a fee estimate for each available inbound placement option. You’ll be charged the FBA inbound placement service fee 45 days after your shipment is received, based on the inbound location and the quantities received.
